In recent decades, the significance of MS Access has increased incredibly. With enormous and advance features, MS access has become one of the integral applications of corporate organizations. Its unique combination of Jet Database Engine incorporated with friendly graphical user interface (GUI) separates it from rest of its peers. However, the fact cannot be denied that this advance application is prone to corruption. Although, the corruption of MS Access database file is an occasional issue, yet it is not acceptable in large organization where all the significant data are stored in Access database.

The corruption of Access database file or mdb file restricts user to access the data or may damage stored data. Besides, there is another possibility that leads to data deletion from the database records. Obviously, users have to take appropriate step to avoid the loss of data.

Access database file usually gets corrupted due to following reasons:
1.Software crash
2.Sudden system shutdown

3.Media corruption
4.Virus corruption

There are more than the above-mentioned possibilities of corruption. Yet, the prospect of mdb repair does exist. Using few of the effective means all the lost data can be recovered. Microsoft is aware of such troubles and therefore provides free software called Compact and Repair Utility, to deal with all such Access database crisis. It can repair corrupt MS Access file with efficiency. The tool has been devised to reduce the unused space in the database, other than just repairing the corrupt mdb file. Unused space is created when any object or record is deleted from the table, because of which size of the file is increased. Compact and Repair Utility by Microsoft creates a new Access database at unique location and restores all the objects from the previous database by copying them.
While performing mdb repair using Compact and Repair Utility, there are few basic things to be kept in mind, such as:

1.The location of the Access database must not be on Network Share (read-only) or set to Read-only.

2.Ensure that the hard disk has sufficient memory space to store the original and the compacted versions of the mdb file. Hard disk must have the memory space at least twice the size of the Access database on the hard disk to be repaired.
3.The mdb file to be repaired must not be accessed by other users while repairing.
4.The mdb file must own Open/Run and Open Exclusive permissions.

Although, Compact and Repair Utility software is an immediate mode to repair mdb., but few of the limitations restricts its working capability. Being a free tool, it cannot repair mdb with full efficiency. Compact and Repair Utility software can repair the tables, queries and the indexes in the database, but is insufficient to fix damaged forms, reports, macros or modules. Hence, the need of advance, powerful and result-oriented mdb repair tool arises. Third party mdb repair tool can be explored to repair mdb file efficiently. Kernel for Access Repair software is among impeccable tools, which have been created to deal with all types of the troubles. This professionally developed mdb repair tool successfully recovers data even from password protected MDB files. It is devised to retrieve table structure, data, OLE data, memo data, original date format and table relationships that Compact and Recovery Utility cannot.
